A person who contaminated candy with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys both nine and 10.

The accused was detained after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.

Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was charged with, which was concerning a young boy.

Ruben was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She explained his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a youth camp which he operated.

The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the following morning.

She said the man had been able to explain this over a long period as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had concerns in recently.

The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepson had concerns about the activities, for good reason.

"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC stated objects including baby oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were found, and his stepchild alerted the authorities about his suspicions.

She stated Ruben continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that evening - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she continued.

The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The prosecutor said the minors were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member notified the police a second time.

She explained Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
