Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and encountered disruption to water supplies, according to local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has increased strikes on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while the country's government has requested "concrete actions" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were striving to restore power.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, according to city authorities.

National leaders told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already impacting gas facilities.

He said technical personnel and authorities were anticipating more assaults.
